Governance is a vital factor in the leadership and management of the school and both the DfE and NGA recommend that MATs and schools regularly (annually) review their governance structure and practices. Whether your school has a single Governing Body with sub-committees or you’re in a group of schools with a Trust Board and local governing bodies, you need to know your strengths and areas for development.
Using our experience of supporting MAT boards and School Governing bodies we have put together a comprehensive set of questionnaires that support a full self-review and will help populate the NGA “Twenty questions: key questions every governing board should ask itself” or NGA “Twenty-one questions: key questions a MAT board should ask itself”.
The survey questions gather both Likert and text-based responses from all stakeholders:
- Governors/Trust Directors
- Local Governing Body Associates/Governors
- Senior Leaders, including the Headteacher
- MAT Leaders
